A very jw suggestion imo useful for hit and run even but don't try and post back to me about this if you think I'm wrong, because I won't see your post or read it anyway.

i hate to see people get banned or silenced - even the people who are causing trouble.
when it comes to regulations, i could almost be described as libertarian.
because of this i would like to make a proposal - instead of leaving the banning power in the hands of a central authority, i propose that banning be placed in the hands of the individual.

this is a hypothetical question, so there are no "right" or "wrong" answers.. let's suppose that the wts wanted to test the loyalty of current baptized members.
in particular, the ones who were baptized before the new baptism questions that were introduced in 1985.. what if it became a requirement for people to re-submit to baptism using the new "vows" whenever they modified the baptism questions.
if anyone declined, they would be considered "disassociated", with all the consequences incumbent with that.. how many dubs would follow through??.
We renew / declare baptismal vows every year our parish anyway just before Easter I think.

But they're the same vows.

when you are a jehovah's witness you have to follow the rules!
and there is a rule for everything.
even if there is no written rule on something, you know about the unwritten rule that must be followed.
Control is a normal function for someone who exercises their will and is free - freedom is very desirable for humans - like life even. However, it is often the case that people are unable to control themselves, and so proceed to achieve their freedom by controlling others.

i'm kind of burnt out from being pissed off at jws.
tonight, while talking to a friend who left at the same time i did (several years ago), we both spoke of our apathy towards the whole anti-witness movement.
recently i helped in several anti-jw actions, and i thought i made a difference, although it was a pittens compared to others who have come before.
JW matters start to take on a disproportionate part of my thoughts. I wonder to myself - why? Why can't I just let go and get on with my life?
Because you know what wolfgirl means when she says
I'm still trying to overcome the guilt feelings I have because of leaving, and the worries.... it's very difficult for me to get over....I don't think anyone that I knew in the past would listen to me anyway.
You understand, when it seems no one does, and that's important, because it gets covered up in the WTs great effort to appear so 'nice'; when the truth is that people have been grieved to the core by them.
It's an important job.

.
i just read that the name, 'jehovah' was created 700 years ago by a catholic monk who took the vowels from the word, 'lord' and combined them with the letters yhwh (the unpronounceable, biblical term for god).. anyone ever heard this or know a credible source for this info?.
now here's potentially something to share with your next visiting jw!.
You just read it? I hope you haven't made life decisions based on it.
Have you been under a spell in the tower?
Yes the word 'jehovah' is invented, and I am happy to confirm it; and I am happy that the wtbts have chosen it and stuck with it, because it isn't God's real name. Coincidently, the hebrew meaning of the sound "hovah" is mischief.
Jah hovah - god of mischief

Would a paduan be a dub? Thanks ozzie - from an ozzie.

Do jws really covet other peoples' homes and consider that they should be rightfully theirs?

Consider a well written book - did it work for ray franz?
What do the org use? That works even if it's lies.

Hey, there might even be money to be made from printing and publishing.

I'd like to write an illustrated childrens story - not quite as blunt as the one I've started (see Bible Research section), especially for any parents whose children are taken into the org against their will. The story, while a tale, should inform them well about what is happening, and ring true when an attempted ban is made upon them reading it.
If you would like to assist, please present your ideas and impressions on the bible research thread - see "the people and the tower" - and break the spell.
